The Cognitive Science Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. We seek applicants with a strong theoretically motivated program of research that makes use of experimental approaches and complements the department’s existing strengths in cognition, perception, and/or action (broadly defined). Priority will be given to applicants who are developing or using innovative techniques from statistics or machine learning to analyze, model, and interpret behavioral data, neural data, and/or non-traditional (e.g. “naturally occurring”) datasets. However, outstanding candidates using more conventional techniques are also encouraged to apply.
We seek applicants whose research and teaching will contribute to our recently expanded, quantitatively oriented undergraduate program in psychological science, and further strengthen the department’s established undergraduate and graduate programs in cognitive science.
Applicants must hold a Ph. D., terminal degree, or foreign degree equivalent in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, or a related field. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent, externally supported research program, and to teach courses on statistical and/or mathematical methods in the psychological and cognitive sciences, as well as specialty courses in their area of expertise.
