------------------------------------------------------------------ Guidelines for Action Editors Each article will be assigned by EICs to an action editor, who will be fully responsible for identifying reviewers, soliciting reviews, and making recommendations to EICs as to whether to accept or reject the article. The members of the editorial board will serve as action editors at the request of the EICs (under normal circumstances, each member will not be asked to handle more than two papers each year, excluding re-reviews). The assignment of action editors will NOT be based on narrow disciplinary boundaries. To fully assess multidisciplinary implications, significance, and accessibility of a submission, the action editors need to assemble an interdisciplinary panel of reviewers. The general rule is: Each article should be reviewed by at least two reviewers, from at least two different disciplines. If an article involves more than two disciplines, more reviewers should be consulted. Steps for action editors: 1. identify an interdisciplinary group of reviewers 2. contact the reviewers to obtain reviews 3. based on the reviews, make decision recommendations to EICs in the form of an Action Editor's Report (which should include all the reviews received). Action editors should return the recommendations to EICs within 5 weeks. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Guidelines for Reviewers: Although each reviewer will comment from his/her own disciplinary background, each reviewer should also keep in mind the inter-disciplinary nature of this journal. In the review, please assess the potential inter-discipinary contributions. Also assess the readability/accessibility of a submission to a multi-disciplinary audience. Please be constructive and detailed. Because we aim at fast turnaround time, please return the reivew within 3 weeks.
